There are several ways to visit Emerald Earth. During the summer months, generally the best way to make a first visit is to come to a work party. In the winter, we have to limit visitors due to a shortage of indoor accommodations. Throughout the year, we schedule occasional open houses for visitors interested in community membership. Please try to give us at least 2 weeks notice. Visitors are asked for a donation of $10 per day. Call 707-972-3096.

We are located about 1 hour’s drive from Ukiah, Cloverdale, or Mendocino, and 3 hours from San Francisco, Berkeley, or Garberville. Greyhound stops in Ukiah; public transportation through the Anderson Valley leaves Ukiah weekdays at 3:00 pm.

If you want to come visit Emerald Earth, help out with our projects, meet interesting people, and learn something new at the same time, a work party may be your best option. Work parties have been a huge benefit to the community over the years, helping us accomplish difficult tasks like moving big logs, plastering buildings, turning garden beds, and building cob and straw bale walls. This year we are offering 5 work parties, each running 2 days. Participants camp on the land, swim in the pond, help prepare meals, tour the buildings and other projects, and get their questions answered about Emerald Earth and our membership process. Expect a rich combination of hard work (we generally have several projects going at once), good food, and fun.

Bring what you need to camp out (we have very little indoor sleeping space), work clothes (you may get muddy), rain gear if coming in the spring or fall, a flashlight, musical instruments, $10 per person per day to help cover food costs, and if you want, food or other items to share (see our wish list). These events have become very popular; we have a maximum size and sometimes have to turn people away, so please register in advance. Let us know how many people are coming and when to expect you. Also let us know where you're coming from so we can help arrange carpooling.
